Based on the exam findings and the history you provide, you and the veterinarian will decide on a course of action for your pet. Sometimes the visit is as simple as performing a routine fecal exam and catching up on vaccines. Sometimes more extensive work is needed, like X-rays, lab work, or an ultrasound. A procedure like a dental cleaning or a surgery may need to be scheduled. Your veterinarian will take the time to explain everything he or she has discovered during your pet’s physical exam, will educate you about it, and will help you make an informed decision that you are comfortable with.
